A 3-night hire is our minimum hire duration. However, we can sometimes accommodate special requests if we have gaps in the calendar so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Of course! Subject to availability there is no limit to the amount of days you can hire one of our Defenders for.

Our standard minimum age in line with our insurance policy is 25. All drivers must have held their license for a minimum of 2 years.

Our standard maximum age in line with our insurance policy is 75.

All handovers take place at our HQ. However, we offer a private transfer service to and from Newcastle Central Station, Newcastle International Airport & North Sea Ferry Terminal.

Yes absolutely, we have ample parking here at HQ and you can leave your car here for the duration of your stay free of charge.

No. Northumberland Defender Hire is not an off-roading company. What we offer is an alternative to a traditional campervan, with 4×4 driving capability that allows you to tackle conditions, weather and permitted roads that campervans and motorhomes can’t. Our vehicles are fitted with trackers, and any off-road driving of any kind will result in a forfeit of the security deposit.

Yes! Your four-legged friends are very welcome. For comfort we recommend hiring Hadrian or Oswald (D110), which will allow for extra room.

Our rates include hire of the vehicle, camping equipment, the roof tent, unlimited mileage, and fully comprehensive insurance for 2 drivers. The only additional funds to pay are if you want to utilise our private transfer or home delivery service

Hadrian & Oswald (Defender 110) seat 5 people, and sleeps 2 in the roof tent. We can provide an additional ground tent if required. Cuthbert (Defender 90) seats 2, and sleeps 2 people in the roof tent. Please note that the boot space is required for the extensive kit provided, so luggage space will be minimal if the back seats are required for any form of seating.

Absolutely! Subject to availability, and both drivers meet the rental requirements, hiring both vehicles is a great way for bigger groups to explore. We’ll also link both vehicles up with walkie-talkies for you!
