What is your minimum hire period?

A 3-day (2-night) hire is our minimum hire duration. However, we can sometimes accommodate special requests if we have gaps in the calendar so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Can I rent for longer than 3 days?

Of course! Subject to availability there is no limit to the amount of days you can hire one of our Defenders for. What’s more, we offer progressive discounts for longer stays!

What’s the minimum age for driving the Defenders?

Our standard minimum age in line with our insurance policy is 25. All drivers must have held their license for a minimum of 2 years.

What is the maximum age for driving the Defenders?

Our standard maximum age in line with our insurance policy is 75.

Where do I collect my Defender from?

All handovers take place at our base at Northumberland HQ.

However, we offer a Defender taxi service to and from Newcastle Central Station & Newcastle International Airport.

We can also arrange a home delivery service on request.

Is there a mileage limit?

There are no limits on your adventure.

What about off-roading?

What we offer is an alternative to a traditional campervan, with 4×4 driving capability that allows you to tackle conditions, weather and trails that campervans and motorhomes can’t. Our vehicles are fitted with trackers, and off-road driving will result in a forfeit of the security deposit.

What’s included in my price, are there any hidden extras?

Our rates include hire of the vehicle, camping equipment, the roof tent, unlimited mileage, and fully comprehensive insurance for 2 drivers. The only additional funds to pay are if you want to utilise our Defender Taxi or home delivery service.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes! Your four-legged friends are very welcome. For comfort we recommend hiring Hadrian or Oswald (D110), which will allow for extra room.

How many seats do the Defenders have?

Hadrian & Oswald (Defender 110) seat 5 people, and sleeps 2 in the roof tent. We can provide an additional ground tent if required.

Cuthbert (Defender 90) seats 2, and sleeps 2 people in the roof tent.

Please note that the boot space is required for the extensive kit provided, so luggage space will be minimal if the back seats are required for any form of seating.

Can I hire the Defender 90 and Defender 110 at the same time?

Absolutely! Subject to availability, and both drivers meet the rental requirements, hiring both vehicles is a great way for bigger groups to explore. We’ll also link both vehicles up with walkie-talkies for you!

I want to visit somewhere other than Northumberland, is this ok?

Of course, you can take our vehicles wherever you please and we’re ideally located to explore the best of the UK’s adventure destinations.
